- In general, I would agree with you. For my BBS, externals are the ONLY
- choice. There aren't enough slots to hold all the modems; and, I depend
- on the status lights to know at a glance what is going on. With problems,
- It is many times easier to swap cables to isolate problems.

- However, for customers and in a number of other computers I use that are
- single user, I prefer internals as it saves clutter and doesn't occupy
- the standard COM1 and COM2 serial ports. I usually install internals on
- COM4/IRQ5 which almost all modern software supports.
